The Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s Neepawa Natives hope to have a new netminder in the lineup tonight when they travel to Portage to face the Terriers.
The Natives acquired 18-year-old goaltender Davy Fisher from the Steinbach Pistons at Thursday night’s trade deadline, in exchange for the MJHL list rights to 17-year-old forward Jaryd Wiebe and future considerations.
Fisher has a 4.05 goals-against average and .876 save percentage this season.
To make room for Fisher, the Natives released former Brandon midget goaltender Jeff Stallard, 18, who had a 4.75 GAA and .885 save percentage this season.
In other MJHL news:
• OCN Blizzard defenceman Josh Elmes of Brandon has received a one-game suspension for picking up his fifth fighting major of the season on Jan. 9 versus the Waywayseecappo Wolverines.
• With three games postponed due to weather, only the Steinbach at OCN Blizzard game went ahead on Friday night in The Pas. The visiting Pistons won 6-4.
