Natives finally end losing skid

Brady Bouchard and Sam Briscoe both scored a pair of goals for the Neepawa Natives on Friday night as they snapped their seven-game Manitoba Junior Hockey League losing streak with a 5-2 victory over the visiting Swan Valley Stampeders.

In Friday’s other games, it was: Dauphin Kings 4, OCN Blizzard 0; Winnipeg Blues 7, Waywayseecappo Wolverines 0; and Selkirk Steelers 5, Winkler Flyers 2.

At Neepawa, Ryan McQueen netted the other marker for the Natives (8-18-4). Carter Johnson and Max Flanagan replied for the Stampeders (15-17-1).

Kings 4 Blizzard 0

At Dauphin, Killarney’s Aubrey Chapman scored a goal, while Brandonites Mitch Van Teeling and Brayden Cuthbert each picked up an assist for the Kings (16-12-1). Chandler Irvin, Dylan Butler and Jared Morris also scored for the Kings, who are in second place in the Sher-Wood Division.

Michael Stiliadis made 21 saves for the shutout, while Alex Henry stopped 37 shots for the Blizzard (14-17-1).

Blues 7 Wolverines 0

At Winnipeg, Jackson Keane scored twice and set up another goal for the Blues (15-11-3), while Channing Bresciani also scored a pair of goals. Joel Schreyer, Scott Rowswell and Liam Kroeker also found the back of the net for Winnipeg.

Scott Parson stopped 20 shots for the shutout. MacGregor’s Mitch Wiebe stopped 35 of the 39 shots he faced in the first two period before giving way to Brandonite Justin Holder, who made five saves on eight shots, for the Wolverines (8-19-1).

Steelers 5 Flyers 2

At Winkler, Erik Pushka scored twice, with Damian Wallack, Soren Fredriksen and Parker Thomas adding singles for the Steelers (20-5-2). Hayden Burak and Scott Gall replied for the Flyers (9-19-4), who got a 27 save performance from Adam Vander Linden. Braeden Ostepchuk stopped 38 shots for the Steelers.
