MacGregor’s Landon Thompson’s goal with 3:33 left in the third period lifted the Neepawa Natives to a 4-3 victory over the Virden Oil Capitals on Wednesday night in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.
The Natives had squandered a 3-1 third-period lead before Thompson netted the winner.
In other MJHL games, it was: Waywayseecappo Wolverines 6, OCN Blizzard 1; and Steinbach Pistons 6, Portage Terriers 1.
At Neepawa, Thompson, Brandonite Brayden Cuthbert and Sam Briscoe each had a goal and an assist as the Natives (10-23-5) snapped a three-game losing streak. Drake Lindsay scored the other Neepawa goal, while Bruce Corrigal made 43 saves for the win.
Jordan Greig of Souris, Devan Schram and Cory Haverstick replied for the Oil Capitals (14-20-6).
Wolverines 6 Blizzard 1
At The Pas, Russell Turner potted two goals and set up another as the Wolverines (16-18-4) handed the league leaders their second loss in a row. Brett Pinkerton of Pilot Mound and Drake Bodie each added a goal and two assists, with winning goaltender Brenden Fiebelkorn making 40 saves.
Tyler Grove scored for the Blizzard (28-13-3).
Pistons 6 Terriers 1
At Steinbach, Quintin Lisoway of Neepawa scored twice for the Pistons (18-17-2). Trent Gynyk and Garrett Schmitz each had a goal and two assists for Steinbach.
Bryce Lipinski netted the goal for the Terriers (21-13-1).
