Guillaume Naud scored two second-period goals to lift the Dauphin Kings to a 5-3 Manitoba Junior Hockey League victory over the Neepawa Natives Friday night in Neepawa.
Killarney’s Aubrey Chapman also scored for Dauphin (4-4-0), which opened up a 5-0 lead midway through the middle frame, and Souris’ Tanner Butler chipped in with two assists. Brian Archibald, who’s from Killarney, made 25 saves to pick up his second win of the season.
Clarke Rempel, who’s originally from Neepawa, replied with one goal for the Natives (3-6-0). MacGregor’s Landon Thompson and Brandon’s Brayden Cuthbert both picked up assists and Corey Koop made 45 saves.
In Friday’s other games, it was Winkler Flyers 7, Winnipeg Blues 3; and Selkirk Steelers 3, OCN Blizzard 2 (OT).
Flyers 7 Blues 3
At Winkler, Justin Faux’s first hat trick of the season led the Flyers (3-4-2) to a dominating win. Jordan Neduzak and Tyler Swerdyliak both added a goal and two assists, while Brandon’s Michael Butler picked up two assists and Cartwright’s Jory Mullin added one helper. Connor Cleverley replied with two goals and one assist for Winnipeg (5-3-0), which got a three-assist performance from Jake Heisinger.
Steelers 3 Blizzard 2
At Selkirk, Brett Dudar set up Tyrenn Bauer’s game-winning goal in overtime for the Steelers (4-3-1). Garick Gray and Brandonite Josh Elmes replied for OCN (8-1-1).
