Brandon’s Dani DeGagne has been named co-winner of the NCAA Division I Summit League’s women’s basketball player of the week award.
DeGagne, a 5-foot-10 fourth-year guard with North Dakota State University and Western Illinois forward Ashley Luke shared this week’s honours for their performances from Feb. 18-24. DeGagne, a Crocus Plains graduate, recorded a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds — along with dishing out a career-high seven assists — while leading the NDSU Bison to a victory over Omaha last week.
Meanwhile, DeGagne’s younger sister Josie, a sophomore guard with Dakota College at Bottineau (N.D.), leads all U.S. Division 2 junior college players in three-pointers made, with 88 this season, while starting in 30 games for the Ladyjacks. Josie DeGagne, who is averaging 14.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game, leads the Ladyjacks into the regionals on Monday in Bottineau.
