Neelin hoops teams lose at Regina event

Both of Neelin’s varsity high school basketball teams lost their opening games at Regina’s Campbell Invitational Tournament on Thursday.

In the eight-team boys’ event, the Spartans dropped an 84-61 decision to the host Tartans. Theo Farough led Neelin with 20 points while Dylan Minshull added 12. Quinton Hunter and Isaak Stark both cracked double digits with 10 points apiece. They will play in a consolation semifinal today.

Meanwhile, Paige Thomson and Kristine Ward both scored 13 points as Neelin opened the 12-team varsity girls’ event with a 76-44 loss to the LeBoldus Golden Suns. Neelin will play in a consolation quarter-final today.
