Brandonite Mitch Van Teeling is heading west.
The 19-year-old forward was dealt by the Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s Virden Oil Capitals to the BCHL’s Vernon Vipers in exchange for 19-year-old forward Brendan Persley and future considerations.
Van Teeling scored 19 goals and racked up 66 points in 52 games to finish 13th overall in league scoring last season with the Dauphin Kings.
Virden acquired him in a trade in the off-season, before shipping his rights to the Vipers for Persley, who had nine goals and 13 points in 36 games with Vernon last season. Persley also played in nine games with the WHL’s Victoria Royals last season, scoring one goal.
