Olafson leads Warriors

Travis Olafson ran for 82 yards and had 75 more receiving as the East Parkland Warriors beat the Virden Golden Bears 36-18 in Rural Manitoba Football League play at Ste. Rose on Friday.

Robbie Killam had 10 tackles for East Parkland (2-2) in the nine-man high school contest. Carrigan George had 60 receiving yards and a touchdown for Virden (1-3), and ran for another major.

In Friday’s other RMFL games, it was: Swan Valley Tigers 37, Parkwest Outlaws 14; and Southwest Sabres 29, Neepawa Tigers 24.

Swan Valley 37 Parkwest 14

At Swan River, Eldon Bushenlonga ran for 211 yards and a touchdown, while Austin Klein added 149 total yards and a major. Tyler Betcher passed for 80 yards and a TD, rushed for two more scores, and also had an interception on defence. Nick Gordon of the Tigers (2-2) was in on 12 tackles, six solo. Reggie Waddell passed for two TDs for the Outlaws (0-4). Shawn Hunter caught both of those touchdowns. Tommy McKay led Parkwest with 11 tackles and an interception.

Southwest 29 Neepawa 24

At Souris, Lynden Middleton rushed for 121 yards and a TD for the Tigers (1-3), but it wasn’t enough to knock off the Sabres (4-0). Neepawa’s Brady Unger and Connor Paterson both returned interceptions for touchdowns.
