Brandon’s Isabela Onyshko stood 20th all-around after the first day of women’s gymnastics qualifying at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland on Monday.
Onyshko, a 16-year-old member of the Brandon Eagles placed 29th on the uneven bars with a score off 11.400, but only 15 competitors were able to top her score of 13.900 on her first vault. Her results have helped Canada sit fourth midway through the women’s team final, trailing third-place Wales by less than two points.
Vault qualification continues today along with the beam and floor qualifiers. The all-around finals begin on Wednesday, with the individual event finals set for Thursday and Friday.
