Pearson powers Plainsmen

Candace Debacker of the Vincent Massey Vikings is blocked by Crocus Plains defenders Mackenzie Pearson and Kasie McLaughlin in varsity girls volleyball on Tuesday night.

Mackenzie Pearson had 10 kills, six blocks and three service aces to lead the Crocus Plainsmen to a 3-1 (25-23, 25-20, 19-25, 30-28) victory over the visiting Vincent Massey Vikings in a Brandon High School Volleyball League varsity girls match on Tuesday night.

Kasie McLaughlin and Emma Donnelly each had eight kills for Crocus, with McLaughlin adding 29 digs and Donnelly contributing 19 digs. Stephanie Hunter had five aces and nine blocks for the Plainsmen. Tristan Neudorf replied with 18 kills while Carmen Hutsal had 16 for Vincent Massey.

Meanwhile, in the varsity boys game, the host Plainsmen beat the Vikings 3-1 (25-16, 25-17, 21-25, 25-21).

Drew Jones led Crocus with 17 kills, while Joel Pulver added 10 and Codie Russell notched eight digs. Joel Rocan replied with 13 kills, while Jared Friesen added 10 for the Vikings.
