Peel hurls no-hitter

Jeff Peel threw a no-hitter for the Canadian Tire Cardinals on Sunday night at Brandon Field as they secured top spot in the Andrew Agencies Senior AA Baseball League standings and a berth at the Senior AA provincial championship.

Peel would have had a perfect game except for hitting one batter in the second inning as the Cardinals beat the Joe Beeverz Young Guns 6-0. He also went 2-for-4 at the plate, with a run scored and an RBI. Jordan Old threw a complete game and gave up 12 hits to take the loss for the Young Guns.

Earlier in the day, Kris Kinnaird went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored, while Jeff Neufeld was charged with two runs in six innings of work to collect the win in the Cardinals’ 13-4 win over the Diamond Dawgs. Jon Hill was 2-for-2 with a walk at the dish for the Dawgs.
