Peiffer leads Crocus Plains

Desirae Peiffer had 19 points and five rebounds points to lead the Crocus Plainsmen to a 59-35 triumph over the Vincent Massey Vikings in varsity girls action in the Brandon High School Basketball League on Monday night.

Stephanie Hunter had 15 points, nine rebounds and six steals for Crocus.

Laura McNutt replied with 10 points, while Taylor Halliday had six points for the visiting Vikings, who trailed 35-30 at the start of the decisive fourth quarter.

Vincent Massey did earn a measure of revenge in the varsity boys game, edging Crocus Plains 55-54 behind 18 points from Jeremy Lucio and 13 from Iain Cowie.

Drew Jones and Taylor Maloney replied with 15 points apiece for the host Plainsmen.

Meanwhile, in junior varsity girls action, Taren Hildebrand scored eight points and hauled down eight rebounds to lead Vincent Massey to a 40-36 triumph over Crocus Plains.

In the JV boys game, Darian Inman scored 11 points to lead Vincent Massey to a 73-51 victory over Crocus Plains. Eric Schepp scored 15 points for the Plainsmen.
