Plainsmen, Clippers split

Carly Baker scored five tries and booted three converts to lead the host Dauphin Clippers to a 46-0 shutout of the Crocus Plainsmen in Westman High School Rugby League girls action on Tuesday night.

Brittany Gawazuk, Michaela Sime and Mary Hughes also scored tries for Dauphin.

Meanwhile, in the boys game, the Plainsmen posted a 30-5 triumph over the Clippers.

Jordan Dyck, Kirk Kennedy, Juan Pena, Drayson McPhail, Cory Hrushowy and Jensell Martinez each scored once for Crocus Plains. Corey Tucker replied with the try for Dauphin.

Meanwhile in Swan River last night, the Swan Valley Tigers topped the visiting Vincent Massey Vikings 50-3 in boys action behind three tries from Kaij Mychalchuk.

Lane Mychalchuk, Nick Gordon, Jesse Genaille, Dathan Silverthorne and Dylan Mullin also had tries for Swan Valley, while Tanner Boak booted a penalty kick for Massey.

In the girls match, the Tigers trounced the Vikings 70-0 last night behind four tries from Desirae Mosiondz. Carisa Schure and McKenzie Schure both scored a pair of tries for Swan Valley, while Brenna Mercier, Danika Shaw and Heather Doleman each scored once.

BASEBALL:

Jared Buckley bashed a two-run homer to lead the Virden Golden Bears to a 22-9 win over the Reston Tigers in the Prairie West High School Baseball League on Tuesday night.

Mac Troughton was the winning pitcher.
