Plainsmen split pair

The Crocus Plainsmen split both of their matches during the opening day of a varsity girls volleyball tournament at St. Mary’s Academy on Friday.

The Plainsmen bounced back from a 19-25 loss to the host Flames — the No. 1-ranked high school team in the province — to win the second set 25-23. Crocus then split with the Dakota Lancers 25-23, 20-25. Stephanie Hunter had 11 kills and eight blocks in the two matches combined. Kasie McLaughlin added 10 kills and 15 digs for Crocus, which finished the pool schedule and will play in the playoffs today.

The Vikings defeated the Lancers in their first match 25-22, 25-23 before falling to the Flames 25-20, 25-19.
