Stacey Shearer’s 14 points led the Crocus Plainsmen to a 49-44 victory over the visiting Vincent Massey Vikings on Tuesday and into the Westman High School Basketball League’s varsity girls’ final.

Shearer narrowly missed a double-double, adding nine rebounds and five steals in the one-game semifinal.

Jordi Malowski netted 12 points, while Desirae Peiffer chipped in with 11 points.

Taylor Halladay and Laura McNutt had 12 points apiece for the Vikings.

The Plainsmen will face the Neelin Spartans in the final. The Spartans have home-court advantage after finishing in first place during the regular season, but due to an open house at Neelin the best-of-three series will open on Thursday at Crocus at 6 p.m., with Neelin to host Game 2 and, if necessary, Game 3.

In Tuesday’s varsity boys’ semifinal, Jeremy Lucio hooped 28 points to lead the host Vikings to a 72-62 victory over the Plainsmen to earn a spot in the final against the Spartans. Jake Cullen paced the Plainsmen with 20 points.

The Neelin open house will also affect the best-of-three boys’ final, with the series opening Thursday at 7:45 p.m., at Massey, with the next two games set for Neelin.
