Love, who works with NBA and Canadian national basketball players with their shot, was impressed with the turnout for the sessions he ran on Sunday afternoon, as approximately 60 people came out to improve their shot.
The participants, who came from all over the Westman area, found the clinic to be very helpful as well.
Shayna Mathison, a 16-year-old from Hamiota, admitted she did not have a great shot before the clinic.
She knows it didn’t improve during the three-hour clinic, but she believes it can improve with a lot of practice after all the tips she received from the coaches.
Mathison also liked having someone who works with high profile athletes help her game.
"It was kind of cool to know he’s worked with them," she said. "When he used examples of different shooters and how they shoot different (like Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash), that was neat."
Love liked how willing all the participants were to learn and tried some of the modifications he suggested.
He also liked how they came from all parts of the southwest corner of the province to work on their mechanics to simplify their shot so it’s repeatable.
Love was so impressed that he is looking at coming back to Brandon in the future.
"My hope is to come back at least every other year, if not every year, and be able to visit with more kids, help them get better and see new kids coming in but continuing with kids I’ve seen in the past," he said.
"Every year I change the clinics slightly to get in information we may have missed before so the kids who are coming back get something a little bit fresh at the very least."
