The Popplestone family had a lot of success at national volleyball championships in March, although neither came away with a title.
One week after Brandonite Garrett Popplestone helped the Brandon University Bobcats win a bronze medal at the CIS men’s volleyball championship, his younger sister Laura helped lead the Lakeland Rustlers — based out of Lloydminster, Alta. — to a Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association women’s volleyball silver medal. Popplestone, a libero, had nine digs as the Rustlers lost the national final 3-0 (25-12, 25-10, 25-20) to the Fraser Valley Cascades on Saturday night.
