Kendra Johnston was the lone Westman player to be honoured at the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association’s hockey awards on Wednesday.
Johnston received the $1,000 Winnipeg Jets Alumni and Friends scholarship for female hockey players. It is based on ice skills as well as leadership in school and community. Johnston played with the Rivers/Elton Rage boys’ hockey team this season.
She also was involved in volleyball, soccer, badminton and track and field, while volunteering at the elementary school breakfast club, coaching junior varsity soccer and serving on student council and grad committee. Johnston captained her soccer and volleyball teams and maintained an 86 per cent average.
