Reaves, Gaslard top 'Cats

A pair of basketball players were recognized as the Brandon University Bobcats’ male and female athletes of the month for February.

Jordan Reaves had one the best months in his four seasons at BU. The 6-foot-5 power forward averaged 19.3 points and 9.5 rebounds in the Bobcats’ six games in February. The Winnipeg native posted a career-high 31 points against the Lethbridge Pronghorns to begin his month.

Meanwhile, Chantel Gaslard averaged 8.2 points and 4.7 rebounds per game in February to earn Pantages on Park Female Athlete of the Month honours. The Thompson native’s best game came against Calgary on Feb. 9 when she had 10 points and 11 rebounds to record her team-high third double-double of the season.

The Bobcats also announced that their year-end awards banquet will be held at the Victoria Inn on March 18. Tickets are $30 and will be available at the front desk of the Healthy Living Centre. Dinner starts at 6 p.m., followed by the award presentations at 7 o’clock.
