Red Sox drop debut

A four-run first inning was the difference as the Hamiota Red Sox opened the western Canadian Senior AA baseball championship in Regina with a 6-2 loss to the Saskatoon Outlaws.

Justin Knight went 1-for-3 with a run scored, while Tyler Reiner went 1-for-3 with an RBI for the Red Sox.

Losing pitcher Curtis Plett went the distance, giving up three earned runs on seven hits and four walks, with four strikeouts in six innings.

The Red Sox were on the diamond with the Calgary Diamondbacks as of press time last night. Hamiota faces the Stonewall Blue Jays and Regina Trappers today.
