Reimer's pair of goals foils Oil Capitals

Dyan Reimer scored twice as the Swan Valley Stampeders beat the Virden Oil Capitals 4-2 Friday to put the teams in a tie for third place in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s Sher-Wood Division.

In other MJHL games, it was: Selkirk Steelers 6, Waywayseecappo Wolverines, 3; and Winnipeg Blues 7, Steinbach Pistons 2.

At Virden, Dylan Favell and Mitchell Eisenberg added a goal and an assist each as the Stampeders (7-4-1) ran their winning streak to five games, while handing the Oil Capitals (6-5-3) their second loss in a row. Jon Gaudet scored for Virden and set up Richard Olson’s goal.

Landon Noel made 23 saves for the Stampeders, while Kyle Beckett stopped 30 shots for the Oil Capitals.

Steelers 6 Wolverines 3

At Selkirk, newly-acquired Matt Glowa and Parker Thomas each had a goal and two assists for the Steelers (6-7-1).

Mackenzie Johnson, Justin Derlago, Dustin Bruyere and Erik Pushka also scored for Selkirk. David Haaf had a goal and an assist for the Wolverines (5-8-2), while Drake Bodie and Curtis Vietch also scored.

Selkirk goalie Trent Michalick made 32 saves, two more than Brandonite Riley Feser made for Wayway.

Blues 7 Pistons 2

At Steinbach, Jared Morris scored twice for the Addison Division-leading Blues (10-4-0), while Connor Cleverley and Kurt Keats had a goal and two assists each.

Neepawa’s Quintin Lisoway scored his first goal of the season for the Pistons (5-8-1) and assisted on the other marker.
