Riley Peyachew 234th in Boston 5K race

Riley Peyachew said he wasn’t going to be afraid to beat his father and brother when they ran in the Boston Marathon’s five-kilometre race on Saturday, and he lived up to his word.

Riley, 17, was the fastest member of his family and finished the race in 19 minutes 18 seconds to place 234th out of 8,640 runners. It was good enough to make him the 186th fastest male in the event as well.

Dylan, 15, came in 1:11 later to place 420th overall, followed by his father James, 39, at 26:53. James finished 2,749th overall.

James’ wife, Deanna, will run in the full marathon today.
