Meaghan Robertson and Ali-Mounir Benabdelhak are the Brandon University Bobcats players of the month for November.

Robertson, a 6-foot-2 third-year middle from Brandon, leads the Bobcats women’s volleyball team in hitting percentage (.360), blocks (33) and stuff-blocks (8). The Crocus Plains graduate and former CIS all-rookie team member, who is fourth on the team this season with 92 kills, finished last season among the conference leaders in kills, hitting percentage and points.

She has picked up right where she left off in her third year for the Bobcats, who enter the Christmas break sitting in eighth place in the 12-team Canada West conference with a 5-7 record.

Meanwhile, Benabdelhak, a 6-foot-6 second-year forward from Montreal, is averaging a team-leading 14.6 points per game and is second with 7.9 rebounds per night while logging an average of 31.6 minutes. He is also tied for the team lead in blocks, with six, and is second in steals, with 10.

Benabdelhak also became a part of Bobcat history and the answer to a trivia question when he scored the first points in a conference men’s basketball game in BU’s new Healthy Living Centre on Nov. 17. He has helped the Bobcats post a 2-8 record, sitting in last place in Canada West’s Prairie Division entering the break.

The BU Bobcats men’s volleyball team has slipped one spot in the CIS rankings from sixth to seventh after splitting a home-and-home series with the Winnipeg Wesmen last week.

The Bobcats go into the break sporting a 9-3 record and sitting in third place in the Canada West conference.

Meanwhile, the BU Bobcats women’s volleyball team has slipped right out of the national picture after dropping a pair of matches last week. Brandon, which was ranked 14th in the country last week, did not receive any votes this week.
