The Reston Rockets were roughed up 7-1 by Nova Scotia in their first game of the Canadian senior men’s baseball championship on Thursday in St. John’s, N.L.
Nova Scotia scored four runs in the second inning and limited the Rockets to only three hits in the game.
Anthony Friesen took the loss, giving up six runs — four earned — on seven hits and two walks in five innings. He had four strikeouts. Brett Pinkerton worked the final two innings for the Rockets, striking out three and allowing only an unearned run.
Mitch Olsen went 1-for-2 and scored the Reston run.
The Rockets take on Newfoundland and Labrador this morning before facing British Columbia tonight.
