Royals extend series

Daylon Creasy did everything he could to ensure the Santa Clara Baseball League championship final went to the limit.

The Carberry pitcher tossed a complete-game four-hitter and scored three runs himself as the host Royals beat the Minnedosa Mavericks 8-1 on Wednesday. On the mound, Creasy struck out six and walked only one, and at the plate he reached base three times with a hit and two walks.

Torey Scott homered, doubled, singled and drove in four runs for the Royals, while Scott Witherspoon had two hits, including a two-run homer as part of a three-RBI night. Dustin Fisher chipped in with a couple of singles for Carberry.

The Royals jumped on Mavericks starting pitcher Mike Tarlton for three first-inning runs and tacked on four more in the third.

Minnedosa will host Game 5 of the best-of-five series on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
