Schell shines as Pita Pit pockets Division 1 championship

Garrett Schell scored a pair of goals and set up four others as Pita Pit won the Wendy’s Winter Hockey League Division 1 championship on Wednesday night at the Sportsplex.

Trent Turner and Drew Bertone also netted a pair of markers as Pita Pit scored five of the game’s first six goals and hung on for a 9-7 victory over Domino’s Pizza. Kyle Grier and Stephan Lajoie added a goal and an assist, with Joey Timmer supplying three helpers for the victors.

Adam Duncan made 27 saves for Pita Pit, while Zach Munn stopped 29 shots for Domino’s, which got a pair of markers from Brad Pardy. Brayden Bertone and Cory Senkbeil both had a goal and two assists, while Eric Struthers added three assists.

Division 2 Final:

Aaron Deroo scored two goals and set up two others as The Dock on Princess won the Division 2 championship with a 5-3 win over Central Autobody on Wednesday night.

Jordan Hageneister added a goal and two helpers for The Dock, while Kris Klemick stopped 17 shots.

Kelly Fisher, Cory Creighton and Jason Earl replied for Central Autobody, which got 26 saves from Brad Nesbitt.
