Six-run inning lifts Royals over Pirates

The Carberry Royals scored six runs in the top of the seventh to edge the host Plumas Pirates 10-7 in Game 3 of their best-of-five Santa Clara Baseball League division final on Sunday night.

Keaton Turner came in relief of starter Daylon Creasy and earned the win after holding the Pirates to one run in two innings. Zac Yandeau took the loss for Plumas, which now trails the series 2-1. Warren Birch went 2-for-5 with three RBIs and Bill Wells had a pair of hits and drove in two more runs for Carberry. Dustin Fisher came around to score twice.

Brady Walker went 1-for-3 with two runs scored for Plumas.

Game 4 of the series will start at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Carberry.

Meanwhile, Sunday’s game between the Minnedosa Mavericks and Parkland Brewers was postponed due to rain. Game 2 of the best-of-three division final will be made up today in Ste. Rose at 7 p.m. Minnedosa leads the series 1-0.
