It was a banner weekend for Skate Brandon competitors at the Winnipeg SuperSkate on the weekend.
Elkhorn’s Hannah Martin and Brandon’s Courtney Morken finished first and second, respectively, in the pre-novice ladies short and free skate program in their flight. Skate Brandon’s Devon Borody of Portage was third in the short program and fourth in the free skate.
In the other flight, Brandon’s Tori Thiessen was first in the short program and Reston’s Casey Bertholet was first in the free skate. Morden’s Jordan Parker, who also trains with Skate Brandon, finished fourth in the short program and second in the free skate.
In the novice ladies division, Brandon’s Madison McCallum finished first in Flight A’s short program with fellow Brandonite Kirsten Gutenberg coming in second and Neepawa’s Amy Todoruk placing third. In the other flight, Skate Brandon’s Brooklyn Parker placed third in the short program, with Eddystone’s Caitlin Wilkinson finishing fourth and Brandon’s Taylor McMurdo in fifth.
Meanwhile, Neepawa’s Zoie Forgue won the juvenile under-14 event and finished second in Category B jumps, while Ally Doherty placed sixth in the junior short program. Avery Albrecht finished first in her flight for Senior bronze free skate and fourth in bronze spins. Danielle Woychyshyn placed fifth in her flight in both events.
