Skaters at Challenge

The Skate Brandon club sent eight skaters to the Skate Canada Challenge in Regina on the weekend, with Casey Bertholet earning the best finish of the group.

Bertholet scored 22.50 points on her short program and 42.20 on her free skate to place 30th in the 52-competitor pre-novice event at 64.70. Devon Borody scored 23.43 on her short program and 38.09 on her free skate to place 34th overall at 61.52, while Courtney Morken was 40th at 57.92 after scoring 22.93 in her short program and 34.99 in the free skate.

In the junior women’s event, which had 49 skaters, Madison McCallum placed 35th overall with 91.86 points. She received 33.48 points for her short program and 58.38 on her free skate. Brooklyn Parker scored 28.55 on her short program and 56.54 on her free skate to finish 40th overall at 85.09.

In the novice women’s event, Kirsten Gutenberg scored 22.74 points for her short program and 45.62 in her free skate to place 34th amongst the 51 competitors with a total score of 68.36. Tori Thiessen was 41st at 65.02 after receiving 23.74 points for her short program and 41.28 for her free skate. Taylor McMurdo was only two places back at 64.28 points. She scored 24.66 points on her short program and 39.62 on her free skate.
