A big season from Paige Small has earned her the nod as the Tri-Star rural high school athlete of the week.
The 5-foot-2 guard is averaging 24 points and six steals per game for the Treherne Tigers varsity girls’ basketball team. Small led the Tigers to tournament titles in Carman and Elm Creek, being named MVP in both events, while also earning an all-star nod at Treherne’s own tournament.
"Paige is one of the hardest working players I have ever coached," Tigers coach Dave Matskiw stated in a release. "Her level of commitment and desire to improve as a player and team leader is unmatched."
The Grade 12 student, who holds a 96 per cent academic average, also competes in badminton, cross-country, fastball, track and field and volleyball for Treherne.
