Graeme Hore scored a pair of goals for the Southwest Cougars on Sunday as they blew out the visiting Eastman Selects 6-2 in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League.
Elsewhere on Sunday, it was: Winnipeg Wild 4, Yellowhead Chiefs 1.
On Saturday, it was: Brandon Wheat Kings 8, Selects 1; NorMan Northstars 4, Chiefs 3 (SO); and Wild 3, Cougars 0.
At Souris, Tyler Kirkup added a goal and an assist for the Cougars (18-17-3), who jumped out to a 5-1 advantage in the second period. Jared Janke, Michael Fortin and Nial Mills added single markers for the victors, while Tyler Crowe backstopped Southwest with a 25-save effort.
Jordan Weir scored both goals for the Selects (21-11-6).
Wild 4 Chiefs 1
At Shoal Lake, Zach Court netted a pair of goals for the Wild (33-4-2), as they moved within a point of the league-leading Wheat Kings in the standings. Ezra Hall and Dawson Martin also found the back of the net for Winnipeg, which got three of its four goals with the man advantage. Morgan Geekie replied with a power-play goal for Yellowhead (16-19-4), which got 42 saves from Brett Friesen.
Wheat Kings 8 Selects 1
At the Sportsplex, Duncan Campbell and Tanner Kaspick both had three-point nights for the Wheat Kings (34-3-1), with Campbell netting two goals and an assist while Kaspick had a marker and a pair of helpers. Ty Dornn, Zach Whitecloud, Ty Lewis, Reid Hunter and Jordy Stallard also found the back of the net for Brandon, which got 37 saves from Reid Stallard. Landon Plett scored for the Selects.
Northstars 4 Chiefs 3 (SO)
At Shoal Lake, Layne Anderson had a goal, two assists and scored the shootout winner for the Northstars (9-29-1). Josh Martin, Riley Shamray and Ashton Anderson replied for the Chiefs, who got their lone goal in the shootout from Geekie. Friesen made 32 saves in regulation and overtime for Yellowhead.
Wild 3 Cougars 0
At Souris, Dawson Martin had a marker and two helpers for the Wild, while, Gianluca Esteves added a goal and an assist and Tyler Brown made 22 stops for the shutout. Josh Diaz stopped 20 of the 23 shots he faced in the Southwest net.
