Spartans sweep Plainsmen

The Neelin Spartans varsity boys’ and varsity girls’ teams wrapped up the Brandon High School Basketball League regular season with victories over the visiting Crocus Plainsmen on Tuesday night.

In the boys’ game, the Spartans had a season-high five players reach double digits in scoring on their way to a 97-56 victory over the Plainsmen. Theo Farough led the Spartans with 23 points, followed by Dylan Minshull with 19 and Chance Miller with 18. Brock Hiltner contributed 11 points to the Neelin attack, while Quinton Hunter added 10.

Taylor Maloney paced the Plainsmen with 12 points.

In the girls’ contest, Paige Thomson piled up 29 points as the Spartans topped the Plainsmen 61-35.

Stephanie Hunter topped the Plainsmen scorers with 14 points.

The one-game league semifinals are scheduled to begin on Tuesday.

The best-of-three championship finals are set to open on Thursday.
