• 40 YEARS AGO — Brandon’s Lawrie Lewis grabbed top honours in the midget men’s 800-metre event at the eighth annual Knights of Columbus Indoor Games with a time of 2:03.7.

•30 YEARS AGO — Frank Lang scored three times and Rob Hamm set up four goals to lead the hometown Souris Elks to a 10-4 South West Hockey League victory over the Waskada Comets. Jim Teetaert added a pair of goals, while John Shaw, Dean Sherritt, Byron Williams, Keith Kontzie and Ken Falloon had singles.

•20 YEARS AGO — Pam Saban and her Boissevain foursome beat Winkler’s Mandy Driedger 8-3 to win the Manitoba youth girls curling bonspiel in Winnipeg.
