IN LOCAL HISTORY:

• 40 YEARS AGO — Kelly Haggarty scored the winning goal with one minute left in overtime as Oak River edged The Pas in the peewee division championship game of the Knights of Columbus Rural Tournament of Champions. Three members of Oak River’s championship team — goalie Ross Perlmutter, defenceman Haggarty and left-winger Dallas Strachan — made the tournament all-star team.

• 30 YEARS AGO — Brandon’s Jeff Partrick won Manitoba’s first medal after finishing third in novice men’s singles at the Canadian Figure Skating Championships.
