• 30 YEARS AGO — Tim Morrison, second in the GPAC hockey scoring race and a first-team All-Canadian selection, was named Brandon University’s male athlete of the year and received the R.J. McCarthy Trophy.

• 20 YEARS AGO — Lee Pearson scored three goals and added three assists to spark the Brandon AA Wheat Kings to an 8-3 victory over the Portage Terriers in opening-day round-robin action at the provincial bantam hockey championship.
