• 40 YEARS AGO — Dale Riddell paced the winners with two goals, while John Morrice, Rick Plett, John Cole, Gary McNish and Carey Murray added singles as the Pierson Bruins captured their seventh SouthWest Hockey League championship in 18 years with a 7-4 win over the Boissevain Border Kings.
• 30 YEARS AGO — Don Morrison and Danny Sunaert both scored twice as the Deloraine Royals beat the St. Rose Royals 8-5 to win the best-of-five league final 3-1.
• 20 YEARS AGO — The Hamiota Red Sox, due to a lack of players, were granted a one-year leave of absence by the Manitoba Senior Baseball League.
