Just because some golfers have moved from the men’s to the champion men’s division at the 81st Tamarack golf tournament doesn’t mean they wouldn’t be competitive in the men’s event, and they proved it on Friday.
Arborg’s Ken Stadnek carded a 69 at the Clear Lake Golf Course in the opening round of the champion men’s qualifying event and holds a three-stroke lead over LaSalle’s Brent Young. Keith Fawcett of Onanole was the highest Westman golfer. He’s sitting in fourth place at 76.
The final round of stroke-play qualifying for the 50-and-over age group will take place on Monday. The top 16 will enter the championship flight for match play.
The men’s qualifying rounds take place today and Sunday, with the women’s, senior men’s and junior qualifying rounds taking place on Monday.
