Stampeders win in shootout

Colin Baudry scored twice in regulation time and again in the shootout as the Swan Valley Stampeders edged the visiting Virden Oil Capitals 5-4 on Wednesday night in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.

Virden native Landon Peel picked up a pair of assists for the Stampeders (22-9-3). Cory Haverstick replied with two goals for the Oil Capitals (12-17-6), who were missing Brandonite Cody Nelson due to a suspension. Jordan Greig of Souris picked up one assist.

In Wednesday’s other game, it was: Selkirk Steelers 8, Neepawa Natives 0.

At Neepawa, Brett Dudar scored three goals and set up two others for Selkirk (19-13-2). Brandonite Riley Feser stopped 21 shots for his first shutout of the season. Corey Koop stopped 12 of 15 shots in net for Neepawa (8-21-4) before giving way to Jeff Stallard, who made 29 more saves.
