Steelers stop Oil Capitals

Braeden Ostepchuk stopped 38 of the 39 shots he faced to backstop the Selkirk Steelers to a 3-1 victory over the Virden Oil Capitals in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League on Tuesday night.

In other action, it was: Swan Valley Stampeders 6, OCN Blizzard 4.

In Virden, Brett Dudra, Brian Mackenzie and Adam Wowryk scored the goals for the Steelers (42-6-3), while Corey Haverstick replied with the lone goal for the Oil Capitals (28-15-3). Virden netminder Adam Iwan finished with 19 saves.

Stampeders 6 Blizzard 4

At The Pas, Bo Sigurdson scored three goals and set up another in a four-point night to lead Swan Valley (22-26-2). Brayden MacDonald, Nic Erb and Jagger Thomas also scored for the Stampeders. Anthony Agner-Bouchard replied with two goals, while Camacho Lathlin and Tyler Grove added singles for the Blizzard (17-29-4), who received 44 saves from Killarney’s Brian Archibald.
