Monday’s blizzard forced the postponement of a couple of events on last night’s sports schedule.
The Dauphin Clippers at Neelin Spartans varsity boys AAA interzone basketball game was postponed due to the storm and rescheduled for tonight at the Neelin gymnasium at 6:30.
The winner will earn a berth in the provincial AAA varsity boys high school basketball championship.
In the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, the Neepawa Natives postponed their year-end awards banquet.
Last night’s Westman High School League semifinal game between the Crocus Plainsmen and Major Pratt Trojans slated for Russell was also postponed and will be rescheduled for after this week’s provincial high school hockey championship.
The Plainsmen will play in the AAAA provincials in Winnipeg starting with Friday games against the John Taylor Pipers — champions of the Winnipeg high school league — at 11 a.m., with a second game versus the Stonewall Rams slated for 3:15 p.m.
Meanwhile, Major Pratt will take part in the provincial AA hockey championship in Carman from Thursday through Saturday, with Westman also represented by Neepawa, Boissevain and Deloraine/Hartney.
