Strong start for Facey at MidAm

Hamiota’s Chad Facey is tied for fifth after the first round of the Golf Manitoba men’s mid-amateur championship on Wednesday in Winnipeg.

Facey finished his round at the St. Charles Country Club 4 over par with a 76 and four strokes behind leader Neal McDonald of Winnipeg.

Facey is the lone golfer from Westman in the hunt for the crown in the three-round event. Glenboro’s Glen Ford is tied for 44th after posting a 14-over 86, while MacGregor’s Kevin Lamb sits at 88. Brandon’s David Glenn and Killarney’s Bob Chapman both shot 89, while Brandonite Dean Oakden posted a 91.
