Team Pacific edges Team West

Brandon Hickey’s goal 45 seconds into overtime gave Team Pacific a 4-3 victory over Team West on Wednesday night at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Quebec.

Travis Sanheim of Elkhorn had an assist for West, which will play Slovakia in the ninth-place game today in Victoriaville. West beat Slovakia 5-2 in an exhibition tune-up before both teams went on to lose four straight tournament games. Pacific won three of its four contests, but will play for fifth place after settling for third in its group.

Brandon Wheat Kings forward Jayce Hawryluk of Team West and John Quenneville of Pacific both missed the game with injuries.
