Six Brandonites have cracked the roster for Team Westman’s boys hockey team for the 2014 Manitoba Winter Games.
Brandon Bantam AAA defencemen Tanner Gaudry, Sam Huston and Jay Webber will be joined by fellow Wheat City forwards Carson Boyechko, Alex Cook and Connor Gutenberg on Westman’s under-16 team that will compete in the provincial Games from March 2-8 in Morden, Winkler and the RM of Stanley.
Also making the team were 13 members of the Southwest Cougars Bantam AAA team, including Rylan Rommelaere of Boissevain and fellow goaltender Riley Rutherford of Glenboro, along with defencemen Cody Thompson of Killarney, Tyler Weatherbie of Sprucewoods and Zach Wytinck of Glenboro. Southwest forwards Kolby Chen of Deloraine, Dexter Dalgleish of Alexander, Brian Harris of Wawanesa, Cole Kirkup of Souris, McCollough Park of Deloraine, John Patmore of Pipestone, Reg Pohl of Douglas and River Sampson of Glenboro. Deloraine’s Brad Vandenberghe is the head coach.
Manitoba’s female under-18 team for the Winter Games is scheduled to be announced on Wednesday.
