Terriers need double OT to beat Soo at RBC Cup

Andrew Wiebe scored in double overtime to lift the Manitoba Junior Hockey League champion Portage Terriers to a 4-3 win over the Soo Thunderbirds in Portage’s opening game of the RBC Cup on Sunday in Humboldt, Sask.

Brent Wold, Brendan Harms and Mike Gennill all picked up three points in the game, in which the Terriers had 72 shots. Adam Iwan stopped 41 shots for Portage.

The Terriers (0-1-0-0) are back in action at the national Junior A hockey championship today when they play the Woodstock Slammers (0-0-0-1).
