The Winnipeg Thrashers ended the Southwest Cougars’ season Wednesday night.
The Thrashers dumped the Cougars 7-3 in Winnipeg last night to complete a sweep of the best-of-five quarter-final series.
Braden Purtill led the Thrashers with two goals and one assist, while Ryan Gardiner, Tyler Penner, Lucas Skrumeda, Nick Lynam and Brandon Wheat Kings prospect Ryley Lindgren had the other goals.
Jordan McCausland led the Cougars with one goal and two assists, with Carter Suski and Meyer Nell scoring the others for Southwest.
Josh Diaz and Tyson Verhelst combined to make 40 saves as Southwest was outshot 47-12.
