The Neepawa Tigers are one win away from repeating as the provincial high school AA hockey champions.
Garett Rempel scored a pair of goals to lift the Tigers to a 4-2 victory over the Deloraine/Hartney Colts in their provincial semifinal on Friday in Carman. Jesse Adams, who had one goal and one assist, and Brett McKinnon also scored for Neepawa. Riley Bodin and Andrew Vercaigne replied for the Colts.
The Tigers will meet the Carman Cougars,who beat the Notre Dame/Somerset/Westmount Mustangs 7-5 in their semifinal, in today’s final. The Colts will play the Mustangs for bronze today as well.
Meanwhile, Skylar Canada scored in overtime to lift the Boissevain Broncos to a 5-4 win over the Major Pratt Trojans in the fifth-place game.
Josh Wood netted a hat trick in regulation time — including the game-tying goal with 50 seconds left in the third period — for Boissevain. Jim Choy and Brayden Cullum both had one goal and one assist for Major Pratt.
