Trojans end Vikings' season

The Vincent Massey Vikings’ season came to an end Sunday night at the Kinsmen Arena.

Landyn Cochrane scored a pair of goals to lead Russell’s Major Pratt Trojans to a 4-3 win and a 2-0 sweep of their best-of-three Westman High School Hockey League quarter-final with the Vikings.

Bret Nahirniak and Robert Wishart also scored for Major Pratt. Cameron Gardiner netted a pair of goals for Massey, with Bradley Schoonbaert scoring the other.

Elsewhere on Sunday, it was: Dauphin Clippers 6, Deloraine/Hartney Colts 2; and Boissevain Broncos 7, Glenboro/Carberry/Baldur Wildcats 4. On Saturday, it was: Clippers 5, Vikings 1; Wildcats 5, Broncos 0; Souris/Reston Sabres 6, Hamiota Huskies 2; and Virden Golden Bears 8, Killarney/Wawanesa Raiders 6.

Clippers 6 Colts 2

At Dauphin, Maxime Lizotte, Riley Helgeson and Daniel Chartrand all had one goal and one assist for Dauphin, which took a 1-0 lead in its best-of-three league quarter-final. Derek Hainsworth and Andrew Vercaigne scored for the Colts, who host Game 2 on Friday night in Hartney.

Broncos 7 Wildcats 4

At Glenboro, Josh Wood scored four goals and set up two others as the Broncos won their best-of-three provincial AA qualifier 2-1. Jordan Robertson scored twice for the Wildcats. The Broncos will meet the Colts in the best-of-three AA South final.

Clippers 5 Vikings 1

At Dauphin, Daniel Chartrand scored twice as the Clippers won the best-of-three series 2-1, advancing to the provincial AAAA qualifier against the Crocus Plainsmen. Riley Helgeson had a goal and three assists for Dauphin, while Keesin Richard scored the Vincent Massey goal.

Wildcats 5 Broncos 0

At Boissevain, Mykel Steen scored three goals and assisted on another in Game 2 of their provincial AA qualifying South Division semifinal, while Andrew Johnston had two goals and three assists. Joel Baron had the shutout.
