Troop, Bieber tee it up in CN Canadian women's event

Brandon’s Kaitlin Troop is 11 over par after firing an opening-round 83 at the CN Canadian Women’s Tour event at the Legends on the Niagara Battlefield Golf Course in Niagara Falls, Ont.

Troop, an amateur, was in 68th place in the event, which wraps up today and offers a champion’s exemption into the CN Canadian Women’s Open, slated for Aug. 20-26 in Coquitlam, B.C.

Troop’s cousin Stacey Bieber of Winnipeg sits in a tie for 36th place after shooting 76 yesterday.

Candace Schepperle of Birmingham, Ala., fired a five-under 67 Tuesday to take a two-stroke lead atop the leaderboard.
