Tuivai leads way for Bobcats

The Brandon University Bobcats men’s volleyball team rebounded from Thursday’s three-set loss by sweeping the host McMaster Marauders at a tournament Friday in Hamilton.

Sam Tuivai led the charge with 18 kills, three aces and two blocks in Brandon’s 3-0 (25-22, 26-24, 26-24) victory. D.J. McCharles added nine kills and one block, while Scott Neufeld had seven digs.

In Winnipeg, Carrera Lamoureux put up 17 points and five rebounds as the BU women’s basketball team beat Red River College 67-59 on Friday. Elsa Langill added 15 points and six rebounds for Brandon, which faces Briercrest today.

Meanwhile, the BU men’s basketball team fell 76-67 to the Jamestown Jimmies in an exhibition game at Jamestown, N.D. Ali-Mounir Benabdelhak led the way for BU with 21 points and six rebounds. Ilarion Bonhomme (14 points and 10 boards) and James Elias (18 points and 10 rebounds) both recorded double-doubles for the Bobcats, who face the Jimmies in a rematch tonight.
