Uhl wins bantam golf crown

Erickson’s Bobbi Uhl won the provincial junior bantam girls’ golf championship on Friday.

The 14-year-old, who plays out of the Shilo Country Club, shot a 79 at the Maplewood Golf Club yesterday to finish the two-round event at 159 for a nine-stroke win. Brandonite Hayley Shanks carded a 97 and finished third at 189. Shanks was the only qualifier in the girls’ 13-to-14-year-old age group to take that title.

Meanwhile, Minnedosa’s Zane MacDonald claimed the 13-to-14-year-old boys’ age group title. He shot a second-successive 83 on Friday to finish atop the age group and fourth overall in the junior ranks at 166. Onanole’s Lawson Yates finished sixth in the age group ninth overall with a two-round total of 177.
